Painted from my car using tinted Stonehenge paper and opaque white, the Cliff’s shaft is a landmark in the mining town of Ishpeming, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. What I love most about this little painting is how the white paint “bloomed” with the excess water, creating an almost perfect depiction of lake effect snow clouds moving in. Now there is a mining museum at this location.
